My mom is currently undergoing chemotherapy and I am spending a lot of time back and forth between my parents' home and mine. Now that she is in somewhat of a routine I feel more able to announce that I will be taking the challenge on. It should be a lot of fun!

I'm giving it another go! 30 paintings in 30 day challenge starts Monday
Once again I am going to take on the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. I know full well that I probably won't be able to paint 30 during September, but the challenge helps me paint more than usual. I'll be pleased if I can accomplish 15.

First solo art show!
I am excited to announce my first solo art show. I'm busily packaging note cards, prints, originals, etc., and getting ready for Saturday. It will be held at the Women's Hope Medical Clinic, which is a great ministry with a nice space for art. I love this ministry and will be donating a portion of the proceeds to them. Please come!

Experimenting with the ipad blogger app
i've been trying to update my blog off and on for the past year, but apparently my desktop computer is too outdated. I can't upload any photos anymore! Now I've discovered the ipad app. I'll explore this for a bit and see if it works well enough to stick with Blogger. If it doesn't, I plan to switch to Wordpress.
This is a photo I took using the ipad camera when we were staying a friend's place on Lake Martin a few weeks ago. It was a gorgeous sunset- the photo is grainy, though!
I imagine nobody is seeing this since it's been two years since I've posted, but I've got to start somewhere!
Trying a photo upload:
Okay, I'm going to save this, post it and see how it looks. I hope to start updating regularly!

En plein air, finally!
I've been wanting to find another artist to go painting outside with me, and last week I discovered that a friend of mine had recently started painting again, and wanted to go paint en plein air. So, last Wednesday three of us went downtown and painted a local landmark, the oak trees at Toomer's Corner. If any of you are aware of the Auburn/Alabama rivalry you probably read about the nut who poisoned the Toomer's Oaks after we beat Alabama last year. He most definitely does not represent Alabama fans, but he claimed to have done it because he loved Alabama and hated Auburn. Crazy!!
Anyway, the poor trees are definitely dying. After having done the painting last week and sold a bunch of prints and notes this past weekend, I read that the university is saying if you want to see the trees while they are still green, you need to come in the next few weeks.
Here is my painting:
I hope to go painting with Jill and Kim again in a couple of weeks! It was great fun.
